  • Chief Marketing Officer


    Summary of Position:
    The Confederation Centre's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a member of the senior management team reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CMO is responsible for leading a dynamic team in marketing, development and guest services.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead in developing the Confederation Centre's strategic marketing and communications plan. The plan will set out objectives for each product/service area of the department and outlines strategies for achieving those objectives.
    • Lead the marketing team in the execution of the integrated marketing and communications plan in various mediums including online, social media, television, radio, print, newspaper, out-of-home, event marketing, public relations, merchandising, etc.
    • Develop and manage multiple departmental budgets. Direct marketing staff where budgets are devolved.
    • Lead research initiatives including market segment assessments, quality satisfaction surveys and economic impact studies.
    • Liaise with community and industry partners in tourism, arts and culture, heritage and all levels of government and private sector.
    • Oversee and direct strategies of revenue, inventory management and audience development for performing arts.
    • Manage media relations strategies and act as a spokesperson with media when required.
    • Work with the Director of Development to oversee the integrated marketing and communications plans for fundraising efforts and secure and manage the media sponsor partnerships.
    • Work with the Guest Services Manager to oversee the integration of customer relationship management and policies, with marketing and communications.
    • Lead the Marketing, Development & Guest Services Departments in special event management including heritage programming, opening night galas, special announcements and celebrations for Confederation Centre of the Arts.
    • Other duties as required to support the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust and the Office of the CEO.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Considerable experience and understanding of integrated marketing communications strategies.
    • Exceptional planning skills for implementing campaigns which involve a variety of stakeholders. Experience in campaign execution using a variety of mediums (television, print, radio, social media, out-of-home, etc.) is important for this position. Experience in managing a dynamic team in project and special events management.
    • Experience in leading market research initiatives. Must be able to analyze and interpret market and customer information to develop practical, implementable objectives and tactics.
    • Oversee and direct strategies in performing arts revenue, inventory management and audience development.
    • Considerable experience in budget development and tracking.
    • Experience in sponsorship and fundraising considered an asset.
    • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel when required.
    • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing or Communications, and a minimum 5-8 years related experience in marketing and communications is required.
    The ideal candidate will be a creative self-starter with strong leadership, organization, negotiation, and problem solving skills. Previous work experience in the arts, culture, and tourism sectors is an asset.
