Holland College Media Arts Students exhibiting with the best of them

April 8, 2013

Annual exhibit from Media Arts programs showing this month in the Art Gallery

(Charlottetown, P.E.I.) - Graduating students from the Media Arts programs at Holland College are once again preparing work for their annual exhibition at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery. Students from the Graphic Design, Photography and Digital Imaging, Fundamental Arts, and Video Game Art and Animation programs will be featured in the exhibition. "This exhibition culminates two years of hard work for many of the students, and in fact, in many cases, this is their first opportunity to present their work to the public," says Nigel Roe, instructor with the Graphic Design program. "This can be a daunting task and one of both excitement and trepidation. As creative people we understand that it is the audience that determines the success or failure of creative expression, but it is still a tough thing to do for the first time."

This year the participating students have been given the opportunity to move the exhibition into the formal gallery setting after four years showcasing their work in the lower level display cases. This has presented some unique challenges and opportunities in dealing with a much larger space.

The official opening will take place Friday April 12 at 4 p.m. in the Confederation Centre Art Gallery. The exhibition continues until April 28. The spring hours for the Gallery are Wednesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
