CCAG's Paige Matthie Wins P.E.I. Heritage Award

February 23, 2017

Confederation Centre officials are thrilled for Art Gallery registrar Paige Matthie, who received a PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation Heritage Award this week. Matthie curated the exhibition now showing at the CCAG, Introducing Caroline Louisa Daly.

The exhibition explores historic P.E.I. watercolour paintings and the research that led to their recent attribution to Caroline Louisa Daly, daughter of former Lieutenant-Governor, Sir Dominick Daly. Previous research had suggested the works were by Charles L. Daly and John Corry Wilson Daly, both of Ontario.

The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation Heritage Awards are presented each year to individuals or groups in recognition of architecture, writing, architectural preservation, genealogy, and general heritage activities. The 2016 awards were handed out by Lieutenant Governor Frank Lewis on February 21 in Beaconsfield's Carriage House.
In recent weeks Matthie's exhibition and research became a breakout media story for Confederation Centre with The Guardian (U.K.), The Globe & Mail, The Toronto Star, Radio Canada International, CBC's As It Happens, and others profiling the art show.
