The Charlottetown Festival calls for submissions for new festival called “The Fringe”

The Charlottetown Festival is calling for submissions for a new festival called “The Fringe,” which will showcase emerging works in theatre, film, spoken word and movement.

This five-day festival will run from August 28 to September 1 in the Confederation Centre’s Studio Theatre at 8 p.m. The deadline for submissions is Monday, July 16, at 4 p.m. Each submission must be accompanied by a $35 registration fee.

“The Fringe” is an opportunity for artists to take their work out of isolation and to develop it in bold new directions. In collaboration with other artists and a dramaturge, they will have the chance to share their work with the local arts community and receive feedback from arts professionals from various disciplines.

“We are looking for original pieces, completed or in development, and we encourage artists of all ages with a passion for creative exploration and discovery to submit,” says coordinator Alix MacLean.

For more information and submission guidelines, please contact MacLean at 628-1864, ext. 184.
The Charlottetown Festival is sponsored by APM group. Media sponsors for The Festival are The Guardian, CBC-TV and CBC Radio.
