Everyone is invited to the Art Gallery for a casual meet’n’greet with artists-in-residence Charmaine Wheatley and Justin Tate, on Tuesday, August 7 at 7 p.m.
Wheatley and Tate arrived in July to assume their posts at Cavendish Grove in PEI National Park, where they are living during their residency. They are creating art inspired by their experiences in the park and the people they meet there day-to-day.
Wheatley records her keen observations with watercolours and will assemble her paintings of the park in a comic book at the end of the summer. Tate finds inspiration in the nature surrounding him, using his ample imagination to create “new” species of animals from plaster casts and recycled or found material. Children ages four to 12 will have the chance to create their own animals at the next Art in the Park on August 18.
Every Tuesday at 7 p.m., Art Talks are free informal discussions on art topics. Everyone is welcome and no previous knowledge on the topic is required. For more information on this or other gallery events, please contact gallery educator Siobhan Wiggans, 628.6112 or confederationcentre.com.
