The Stepcrew dance into the Mainstage August 19 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts

Champion fiddler and dancer Stephanie Cadman steps back onto the Mainstage at the Confederation Centre of the Arts with her new troupe The Stepcrew on August 19 at 8 p.m.

Be one of the first to experience The Stepcrew on their debut tour! Featuring the world's top talents in Irish Step, Ottawa Valley and modern tap dancing as well as fiddling, the Stepcrew was founded by Cadman, Jon Pilatzke (The Chieftains and Bowfire), Cara Butler and Nathan Pilatzke (The Chieftains) and Dan Stacey (Seven Nations) in 2006.

The troupe has been workshopping the show for the past year, approaching the program as a collaborative project. “Everyone is the choreographer,” explained Cadman in a recent interview. “Each dancer is great at what they do, and we all have a lot of input into the show. We want everyone’s strengths to be highlighted.”

The 12-member group also includes a live five-piece band featuring some of the leading musicians on the scene today, as well as Sarah Uddin, one of the top choreographers in Canada, and Ryan McCaffrey, former lead dancer with Riverdance.

The Stepcrew takes traditional dance forms and fiddling to new heights. Having worked together for more than 10 years, these six outstanding dancers seamlessly transition through traditional classics, modern interpretations of Celtic dances and electrifying new compositions created especially for their debut tour. They will embark on a US-wide tour in 2008.

One of the most popular performers in the 2005 Charlottetown Festival’s hit musical revue CANADA ROCKS! and star of the 2006 Festival’s production Celtic Blaze, Cadman is excited to be back. “I wish our run here was longer than just a day because it’s a real treat to be back on the Island,” she said.

Her flying feet and fiddle are joined by an all-star cast that will blow you away!
