Island artist John Cox will speak about his artistic practice at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery on Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m., as part of the gallery’s free Tuesday evening Art Talk series.
Using two of his paintings as examples, Cox will talk about creating art. He will explain the traditional techniques he uses to make the oil paints he uses for his paintings, as well as other matters that arise in his practice. During his talk, he will answer questions from the audience.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Cox studied in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Ontario. He has painted since early childhood, and has been a professional artist since 1976. He exhibits his work across Canada in group and solo shows. His work is included in many corporate and private collections across North America. He has also worked as a graphic designer and art director for over 20 years. He currently lives on Prince Edward Island.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
