Explore literacy and art with your special little one in Connect the Dots, an exhibition organized to celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 26. In honour of the award-winning children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, works from the collection with a “dottish” appeal have been brought together for this fun and engaging display. Read the book, look at the works on the wall, and create a piece of art at our creative station.
The Dot tells the story of the heroine Vashti, who with a little encouragement surprises herself by discovering her own creativity. As the teacher in this story says, “Just make a mark and see where it takes you.” We invite you and your child to do just that. Chances are you too have a Vashti in your life.
Connect the Dots runs until March 22. This exhibit is curated by the following pre-service teachers from the Faculty of Education at UPEI: Erin Andrews, Dan Bylhouwer, Colette Cheverie, Leslie Copan, Tamra Enman, Jennifer Gaudet, Mark Gregory, Lisa Paynter, and Gary Vincent, with assistance from Siobhan Wiggans, Curator of Education and Outreach, Confederation Centre of the Arts.
