PEI Presents the the world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir March 1 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. The Harlem Gospel Choir will raise the audience’s spirits to angelic heights with its songs of gospel and inspiration.
One of the pre-eminent gospel choirs in the world, this group shares its message of faith, love, peace and harmony with people from diverse nations and cultures. An ambassador for African-American culture, the choir has performed for such eminent figures as Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II, and with many international stars.
The Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for the Choir while attending a celebration in honour of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the renowned Cotton Club in Harlem. The Choir presents the finest singers and musicians from Harlem's Black Churches and from the New York/tri-state area. They are appearing in Charlottetown during their God Bless the Children World Tour 2008.
