Respected Nova Scotia artist appearing on PEI for the first time

Respected Nova Scotia artist Wayne Boucher makes his PEI debut with Radiance and Counterpoint at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery opening March 5.
Boucher’s large format, brightly coloured abstract paintings have been described by Confederation Centre Art Gallery’s curator Ihor Holubizky as being “bright paintings that make you feel good about life.”

Wayne Boucher was born in Toronto in 1943. After graduating from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1975 he moved to Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia, where he continues to live and work. He was made a member of the Royal Canadian Academy in 2002 and won the 2004 juried competition for the mural at the Interpretation Centre at Grand-Pré National Historic Site, marking the Acadian Deportation.

He is a founding member and past chair of the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council and sat on the Board of Directors of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Arts Award Foundation in 2005-2006.

Boucher has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally. His works are represented in numerous private, corporate and public collections including the National Gallery of Canada.

This show is a remounting of an exhibition that was presented at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in 2006 curated by Peter Dykhuis. The exhibit runs until May 18.
