Charlottetown – The Confederation Centre Youth Chorus will deliver its popular annual spring concert Voices of Spring on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m., at Trinity United Church in Charlottetown.
The concert will include classics by Bach, Handel, Palestrina, and Pergolesi as well as contemporary and traditional folksongs. Works by Canadian composers and arrangers Eleanor Daley and Ruth Watson Henderson are also featured in the concert.
Donald Fraser, Director of Music, will direct the 60-member Chorus, with accompaniment provided by Sara White.
The Confederation Centre Youth Chorus provides Island youth, ages 8-20 with a unique opportunity to develop their musical skills at home and abroad. The Chorus performs regularly at the Confederation Centre and other venues. Members have recorded a CD entitled On Tour (2003) and have toured extensively, travelling to France, Belgium, Great Britain, Washington D.C., New York City, British Columbia, Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Last year, the Chorus’ 45-member touring choir moved people around the world with their incredible performance of French composer Philippe Rombi’s song I'm Dreaming of Home from the 2005 movie Joyeux Noel at the dedication ceremony for the memorial on April 9, 2007, the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. They will perform this song at the April 13 concert as well.
