Charlottetown – PEI Presents your chance to be part of a live recording when ECMA winning group Vishten records a live album at The Mack this spring. Over the course of two nights, April 18 and 19, the PEI Acadian group is performing a bilingual show for their new CD.
Vishten brings together young Acadians who are passionate about the music and dance of their region. They describe themselves as genuine cultural ambassadors. The group first experienced success in 2000 in Canada then very quickly in the United States, Europe, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. They attribute their sound to the richness of their culture and their own experiences. "A music from the new Acadie - a music that stands out from what existed. These original compositions reflect our exchanges with other cultures," the group says on their website.
Vishten’s sound includes touches of aboriginal influence, folk and rock taking their audiences on a voyage through the centuries via their traditional music and ancient Acadian melodies.
Vishten are: Emmanuelle LeBlanc (whistles, bodhran, piano, vocals, stepdancing, feet), Pastelle LeBlanc (accordion, piano, vocals, stepdancing, feet), Pascal Miousse (fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals, feet) and Elmer Deagle (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo).
Both performances begin at 8 p.m. at The Mack with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 the day of the performance and at the door. Both nights are licensed, 19+. Tickets are available at the Box Office, by calling (902) 566-1267 or toll free 1-800-565-0278, and online at www.peipresents.com.
