Teen artists get your creativity going for trading card event

Charlottetown – For all creative teens out there, the Confederation Centre of the Arts is announcing an upcoming Artist Trading Card (ATC) event for youth. TeenATC will take place in the Art Gallery on May 16th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Artist Trading Cards are miniature works of art about the size of a credit card. ATCs can be made out of anything possible (wood, drawings, wool, pictures, etc.) for trading. Feel free to use your imagination to create something different and original,” says Mélanie Comeau, a co-op student at the Centre organizing the event. “If 50 people sign up, you will be required to create 50 ATCs for trading at the event and each participant will leave with 50 original mini masterpieces that night.”

Youth ages 13 to 18 interested in participating in TeenATC need to register to participate as an artist by April 15th. Comeau will confirm with all participants by April 18 how many trading cards they are required to make. Cards can be duplicates of one design or each one can be different. This is not a juried competition for prizes – cards are intended for trading only.

Comeau says there is no specific theme; artists are encouraged to use their creativity to create what they think will work well on a trading card. Any teens may attend the May 16 event but only registered participants can take part in the trading. There is no cost to participate or attend. To register, please contact Comeau by e-mail, gmail.com, or by phone (902) 628-6112.
