Charlottetown – Youth on PEI are making a CD to promote local music, and their enthusiastic invitation to all youth bands and musicians is loud and clear.
“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime! We are looking for Island musicians and bands with members ages 13-18 to try out for a chance to get a track recorded on the Confederation Centre of the Arts Youth Arts Council (YAC) ‘summer mix CD,’” says YAC member Erika Groman.
“This CD provides an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to try to break into the music scene on PEI and show anyone who will listen what they are made of,” she adds. “We are looking for Island youth talent to perform one song that would be featured on our CD and sold to the public.”
The group is looking to fill each track with a different act to make a CD featuring all local talent.
“The album will feature 12 to 15 tracks, so musicians choose your song wisely,” says Jackie Skinner, another member of YAC. “Not only is the music pure Island youth, but the cover design will be as well. This CD will be a perfect expression of young Island culture at work.”
“This is the big one that could get away if you don’t take the chance,” Groman says. “So grab your talent and come out and show us what you are made of.”
YAC will be holding auditions Sunday, April 27, 11-3 p.m. at the Studio Theatre in the Confederation Centre of the Arts. For more information or to book a slot for an audition, contact gmail.com or call 628.6111 or 628.6112.
