Islanders returning to Anne™

Charlottetown – They may wait until the last minute to book, but Islanders have responded well to the recent challenge from the Confederation Centre of the Arts for every Islander to see Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ in this anniversary year.

“We sold more than 1,000 Anne™ tickets to Islanders on the last day of the campaign alone,” says David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts. “This is by far the most successful preseason sales for Anne™ tickets, and I think we can attribute that not only to the significant price discount we offered but also to all the attention focused on Anne in general this year.”

Advance ticket sales for Anne™ last year at this time were at 68 tickets. Largely due to the Islander promotion this year, the Centre has sold 4,156 tickets to Islanders for the musical to date. During the entire 2007 Charlottetown Festival, approximately 3,000 Islanders came to Anne™ representing only 8% of total tickets to the musical.

“People are reconnecting with Anne in many different ways in 2008, and we anticipate our best year ever for the musical,” says MacKenzie.
