Bridge continues Centre support with 2008 concert series

Charlottetown – Even before there was a Confederation Bridge, there was support for the arts from the bridge corporation. Strait Crossing Bridge Limited began supporting the Confederation Centre of the Arts in 1995, two years before the bridge even opened.

In 2008, Strait Crossing is celebrating its fourteenth year of partnership with the Centre with the announcement of the line up for the 2008 Confederation Bridge Concert Series.

“Strait Crossing sponsored Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ for ten years. Michel LeChasseur challenged us to create something new, and four years ago we started the Confederation Bridge Concert Series, a dynamic addition to our programming that brings Islanders and visitors to downtown Charlottetown,” says David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts. “We are excited to continue this strong partnership, and audiences will be excited with this year’s diverse line up.”

Great Canadian music takes centre stage during the Confederation Bridge Concert Series, June through September, featuring one outdoor performance and four concerts on the Mainstage:

• Tour de PEI Finish Line Concert – free outdoor concert - June 12 with Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold opening for Chris Colepaugh & The Cosmic Crew

• Quebec’s Gregory Charles on July 13

• Acadian sensation Grand Dérangement on August 17

• Nova Scotia’s Melanie Doane on August 31

• Canadian powerhouse Leahy on September 21

“We are excited each year with the talent that we can help bring to PEI,” says Michel Le Chasseur, General Manager of Strait Crossing Bridge Limited. “We strive to support our communities with activities that excite and interest Islanders and help draw additional tourists, such as the Concert Series. The bridge is one Canadian icon supporting another Canadian icon – the Confederation Centre of the Arts.”
