Anne Allan, Artistic Director of the Charlottetown Festival, is delighted to announce a new Gilbert Blythe starring in the 2008 production of Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™. This summer Gilbert Blythe will be played by Matt Wagman.
Wagman comes from Regina, Saskatchewan. While attending the Sheridan Institute Music Theatre Performance Program, he was invited by Allan to be part of the Confederation Centre Young Company. He was thrilled, and in 2006 he appeared in the production of Les Feux Follets. Last year was Wagman’s first season on the Mainstage with the Festival, where he performed in both Anne™ and The British Invasion: A Musical Revue.
“I am honoured to be playing the role of Gilbert Blythe on this special occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables,” he says. “I am looking forward to working with this great staff and to having fun.”
Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™ opens on the Mainstage at the Confederation Centre of the Arts on June 14 with two preview shows June 12 and 13.
Tickets to Anne™ are available at the Confederation Centre’s Box Office at 1-800-565-0278 or online at www.charlottetownfestival.com.
