Charlottetown – The Charlottetown Festival presents its second annual Fringe Festival this summer and is seeking submissions. The Fringe: Emerging Works in Theatre, Film, Spoken Word and Movement runs August 27 to 31 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
Last year’s inaugural Fringe Festival proved to be a huge success featuring the work of more than 50 performers, writers and artists.
“From intriguing one-act plays and uniquely original dance pieces to fantastic spoken word, compelling independent short films and complete off-the-wall craziness – all of this found its home in The Fringe,” wrote Todd MacLean in a review of the festival in The Guardian.
“The Fringe will feature original works of theatre, spoken word, film and movement. We are eager to provide another opportunity for artists to collaborate with a dramaturg and professionals from many different arts disciplines,” says the Charlottetown Festival’s associate artistic director Wade Lynch.
The Fringe organizers are currently seeking submissions for the festival. Original pieces, completed or in development, from artists of all ages may qualify. There will be a Fringe social and information session Tuesday, June 3 at Mavor’s Bistro & Bar at 8 p.m. for people wanting to know more about this year’s submission process.
