Charlottetown – Get Anne-imated in Charlottetown June 14! Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Anne of Green Gables the novel with a day full of fun for the family at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Everyone is invited to a BBQ complete with ice cream & bright red drinks. Get your picture taken dressed up as Anne, meet the cast, and more.
Anne-imated is Charlottetown’s main event to celebrate the centenary of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel.
Children of all ages are invited to an Anne & Friends Breakfast at the Confederation Court Mall's Urban Eatery. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Anne character. From there the activities move to the Confederation Centre with an open house and a long list of activities leading up to the gala opening of Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ that evening.
“We are thrilled to have Gracie Finley as our Honourary Chair for June 14’s festivities,” says David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts. “Many people will remember Gracie fondly as Anne from 1968-74 and again in 1984 and 1985. She remains the only Islander to ever play Anne on the Mainstage.”
Finley, whose career has taken her across Canada, the U.S. and to Europe, now resides in England. She returns to PEI several times each year and says she is very excited about Anne-imated and all the attention that Anne is receiving this year.
Adaptor of the book and co-lyricist for Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™, Don Harron will be at the Confederation Centre signing his new book 101 Things You Didn't Know About Anne of Green Gables - The Musical™.
During the open house, children will enjoy a visit to the Schurman Family Studio where they can participate in Anne Arts & Crafts. Other featured activities include an opportunity to meet the Charlottetown Festival cast who will be signing autographs and taking photos. Stop by the Anne photo booth, dress up in an Anne costume and get a souvenir picture as Anne. Anne™ Outdoors will feature the 19 piece orchestra from Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™ performing a one hour condensed version of the musical in the Confederation Centre Outdoor Amphitheatre.
The gala opening of Anne of Green Gables-The Musical™ begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by an after party with food and lots of good Island fun to celebrate everyone's favourite redhead.
It all takes place at the Confederation Centre of the Arts June 14th!
