An Irish Comedy opens at the Confederation Centre of the Arts

A comedy about Hollywood coming to Ireland comes to the Confederation Centre of the Arts this summer. Stones in His Pockets will play in the Studio Theatre beginning July 15.

When Hollywood comes to a rural Irish Village for the filming of The Quiet Valley, the culture clash between the arrogant cast and crew and underemployed Irish locals is inevitable, and inevitably hilarious. The film attempts to exploit the locals all the while missing out on the real life stories behind the small timers with big dreams.

Starring in this comedy are two actors, Wade Lynch and Patric Masurkevitch, who play over 13 characters each.

“The greatest challenge – and the greatest joy – in this play, is that each actor must create eight distinct, quirky characters with little or no help from wardrobe, wigs or props,” says Lynch. “There is simply not enough time to change the physical trappings of all the individuals who populate the play. The actors have to use the two most basic tools of the trade: vocalization and characterization to breathe life into Marie Jones’ marvelous, challenging characters.”

“Stones in His Pockets embraces all that makes theatre unique and more importantly, a spectator sport. It's a two man tour de force that will leave you breathless,” says Masurkevitch.

Stones in His Pockets opens in the Studio Theatre on July 17 with a preview performance on July 15. For more information and tickets, please call the box office at 566-1267 or visit www.charlottetownfestival.com
