Make room for Ballad in the afternoon

Charlottetown – Get ready for some foot stompin’ on a Saturday afternoon. The Ballad of Stompin’ Tom, playing six nights a week at The Mack theatre, is adding matinee performances every Saturday afternoon from July 26 to August 30.

The Ballad of Stompin’ Tom opened July 4 at The Mack, and the early success of the show has prompted the Charlottetown Festival to add the matinee performances. The 2 pm matinees also provide another opportunity for families to see the story of one of Canada’s music legends brought to life on stage.

“The story is unbridled patriotism. It shows families that a kid can overcome so many obstacles in this great country of ours and become such a strong supporter of Canada and Canadians,” says the play’s director Wade Lynch. “It’s an important story for families to see together. And of course we have four Island kids in the cast and several other Islanders in Ballad. It is a PEI story.”

Tickets for The Ballad of Stompin’ Tom are available at the box office at 566-1267 or at www.charlottetownfestival.com.
