Art talk turns to west coast photography circa 1970

Charlottetown – Tuesday night Art Talks at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery return August 12 with a continuation of the photography theme. Inspired by the Photography 101: push the button exhibit at the Gallery this summer, the free evening presentation will be a dialogue between Ihor Holubizky and Christos Dikeakos.

Holubizky is the curator of Photography 101: push the button, and Dikeakos is featured in the exhibit. As an artist working and living in Vancouver, Dikeakos offers a unique perspective on post-1970 photography from Vancouver. Works from this period by Jeff Wall, Stephen Waddell, Fred Herzog, and Mark Ruwedel are featured in this exhibit.

This Art Talk takes place on Tuesday, August 12 at 7 p.m. in the Gallery and admission is free. The following week, on August 19, Pan Wendt, adjunct curator at the Gallery, returns with an Art Talk focusing on a journalistic photograph of the masked Mexican guerrilla leader Subcomandante Marcos.
