Charlottetown – The best music of the past 50 years from both sides of the Atlantic will continue to play into September at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. The highly successful 2008 Charlottetown Festival is extending the run of British Invasion II: America Strikes Back! The popularity of the show continues to grow and grow, so the show will go on through to the end of the Festival.
“The 2008 Charlottetown Festival may well be one of our best ever. Attendance this year is spectacular, and audiences are enjoying every one of our shows,” says David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
“Starting with Canada Rocks in 2005, our second show for the Mainstage has become a major draw and an audience favourite. The British Invasion last year was a big hit and paved the way for America Strikes Back! this year to be just as big.”
Currently playing Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings through August, America Strikes Back! will add four weeks to its run with performances Thursdays and Fridays in September. The show’s closing date will now be September 26. The Festival wraps up its 44th season the next night with the final performance of Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ on September 27.
