PEI Presents begins on the heels of Charlottetown FestivalCharlottetown – PEI Presents begins October 3 with Bruce Guthro launching the seventh season of the popular fall and winter series at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

“The Charlottetown Festival wraps up a huge season September 27 and right on the heels of the final performance we launch into PEI Presents for 2008-2009 with Bruce Guthro on the Mainstage,” announced David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts recently.

PEI Presents showcases more than 40 performers from October through April at the Confederation Centre, Trinity United Church, the Kirk of St. James and the Jubilee Theatre. The diverse lineup includes holiday favourite The Nutcracker, the Centre’s choral music programme featuring Handel’s Messiah and Sing Noël, Damhnait Doyle and David Myles, the return of Rawlins Cross, the popular Valentine’s Cabaret at the Mack, and the second annual Comedy Fest.

“Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated show of the 2008-2009 PEI Presents season is the four week run of Canada Rocks Christmas beginning November 27,” MacKenzie adds. “From the first performance to the last, we know Islanders and visitors will be excited about the top quality artists we are bringing to the stage.”

Bruce Guthro is an artist who has captivated audiences around the world with his honest, straight-to the-heart songwriting, and live performances that are engaging and personal. His debut, Of Your Son, was certified Gold in Canada selling more than 60,000 units and produced two hit singles – Walk This Road and Falling. Bruce's follow-up album, the critically acclaimed Guthro, revealed the pride of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia as an international performer. His songs cross the boundaries of pop, folk, and jazz and showcase his ability as a songwriter.
