Charlottetown – The Confederation Centre of the Arts is one of three finalists for a national tourism award, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) announced today. The Centre is nominated for the prestigious Business of the Year Award.
TIAC hands out the National Awards for Tourism Excellence each year to businesses, events, and individuals “to recognize and foster Canadian tourism excellence.”
“The National Awards for Tourism Excellence nomination is recognition of the Confederation Centre of the Arts’ growth, sustainable business practices and economic and cultural impact in the province of PEI. On behalf of the board and all staff, we are honoured to be considered,” says David MacKenzie, CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
This is the Centre’s first nomination in this category. The Charlottetown Festival is a previous National Award winner as Event of the Year in 2003, the first year the awards were given.
The TIAC National Awards for Tourism Excellence will be handed out at Canada's Tourism Leadership Summit, the annual TIAC conference, in Gatineau, Québec on November 4.
