Charlottetown – One band is driving Irish folk songs into the 21st century. That band is the Makem & Spain Brothers. The Irish folk music group brings their powerful performance to the Mainstage on October 10 as the second act of the 2008-2009 PEI Presents season.
“The Makem Brothers with Mickey and Liam Spain are the definitive Irish folk singers of their generation,” says the NY Chronicle. The three Makem brothers are the sons of music legend Tommy Makem.
Their vocal power and stage presence capture the essence of their genre while standing out as something unique. A host of instruments and five male vocals, using precise three-part harmonies, blend perfectly for what many have described as a wall of sound. The talent and enthusiasm of the Makem & Spain Brothers elevates the joy of folk music.
The Makem & Spain Brothers play Friday, October 10 at 8 p.m. on the Mainstage.
Tickets are $25. Tickets are available at the Confederation Centre’s box office at 1-800-565-0278 or online at www.peipresents.com.
