Charlottetown – The redhead will be back. But that’s not the scoop. The Confederation Centre of the Arts is gearing up to launch the 2009 Charlottetown Festival season with the announcement of the line-up for next summer. The season launch takes place November 6 at The Mack theatre at 12:30 pm.
The launch event will feature a glimpse of what will be onstage in 2009. One show can be revealed early: Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ will return to the Mainstage for its 45th season.
“People reconnected with Anne™ in 2008,” says Anne Allan, artistic director of the Charlottetown Festival. “Attendance was at a four year high, and we saw clearly that the audience still loves her. Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ will remain our number one show as long as the audience responds with such enthusiasm.”
“To find out what the ‘other’ show on the Mainstage will be, and who will be onstage at The Mack and in the Studio Theatre, people will have to wait until November 6,” she adds. “It’s an exciting line up. We’re calling it daring and dramatic. The Charlottetown Festival’s reputation as one of the best venues in the country demands that we be on the leading edge of live theatre. Audiences know that our productions will be top notch.”
