Charlottetown – When the Vancouver Chamber Choir brings its East Meets West tour to PEI in March, the renowned group of singers brings with them two strong connections to the Island. One of the longest-serving singers in the VCC is tenor Gordon Crozier, originally from PEI. He and the other singers in the choir will be premiering “Agnus Dei,” a composition by the UPEI Music Department’s own Andrew Zinck.
The Vancouver Chamber Choir is one of Canada’s outstanding professional vocal ensembles. Conductor Jon Washburn and his twenty singers are noted for their diverse repertoire and performing excellence. The ACDA Choral Journal has declared the VCC to be “as fine a vocal chamber group as any in the world today.”
East Meets West – the Vancouver Chamber Choir on Tour comes to PEI and Nova Scotia for five shows, appearing on the Confederation Centre of the Arts’ Mainstage Thursday, March 5.
Formed in 1971, the VCC began touring in 1974. They have performed on PEI during three past tours, first in 1988, and again in 1997 and 2003.
Tickets for the Vancouver Chamber Choir are $25 and are available at the box office, by calling 566-1267 or toll free 1-800-565-0278, and online at www.peipresents.com.
