Motus O bringing high energy show to Charlottetown

Charlottetown – Soar through the themes of spring and love when Ontario based dance company MOTUS O brings Carmina Burana to the Confederation Centre of the Arts on April 3. MOTUS O is latin for “the method of movement,” the company explains. “We want to know the meaning of every movement and to move as if it has meaning,” the artistic director says in their press kit. Action, grace and energy are the trademarks of their evolving style.

Plunge into the imagery of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Through MOTUS O's weaving of an operatic score, live video footage, stunning costumes and the physical realm of dance theatre this production brings to you a total theatrical experience!

Fate or freedom? Divine rule or personal fulfillment? A band of renegade monks journey through colourful landscapes and drink deeply of the offerings of this world. Along the way they meet Fate herself, an angel, a devil, lovers, a cowboy, a taskmaster - even a barmaid! These figures illuminate the shadow and light found in the human soul.

MOTUS O Dance Theatre presents Carmina Burana on Friday, April 3, at 8 p.m. on the Mainstage. This performance has mature themes and is recommended for adults only. Tickets are $22 & $25 and are available at the box office, by calling 566-1267 or toll free 1-800-565-0278, and online at www.peipresents.com.
