The Confederation Centre of the Arts is committed to providing Island youth with richly diverse and engaging experiences in the arts.

Centre Connect         pdf

Centre Connect is a multi-disciplinary Young@Arts program for children in grades K-12.

Classes may participate in any of three different components of the Confederation Centre during each visit; students may explore the Art Gallery and create their own work of art in response to what they see, take a behind- the-scenes peek at the Mainstage Theatre or enjoy a building and sculpture walk of the Centre. Because of the cost of transportation to our site, participants are encouraged to participate in more than one component of the Centre Connect program.

The aims of Centre Connect are to:
Expose students to Canadian art and its rich and diverse practice.
Engage students through looking at and discussing the arts.
Participate in experiential learning of the arts by making and creating art.
Familiarize students with the Confederation Centre of the Arts and spark a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

Arts Discovery Days

Arts Discovery Days, a project of Confederation Centre of the Arts in partnership with the PEI Department of Education, offers students the opportunity to take part in movement, drama and visual arts workshops led by arts professionals at the Centre. These “hands-on” sessions link directly to themes of the Social Studies curriculum. The first Arts Discovery Days took place February 6-8, 2007. On each day, three different classes of Grade 4 students participated on workshops that focused on the concept of exploration.

Following the success of the Grade 4 pilot project, Arts Discovery Days was offered for Grade 8 students from November 20-22, 2007 and focused on the concept of Canadian identity. This program was presented in partnership with pre-service teachers of the Faculty of Education, U.P.E.I., who facilitated pre-visit and post-visits in participating schools. It is our hope this program will eventually expand to include all grade levels, in both official languages.

If you would like to have your class participate, please contact
