The Confederation Centre Theatre, Dance and Specialty camps are designed to encourage creativity, self-confidence and team building in a professional, fun setting. Students will learn how to tread the boards like a pro from some of Canada’s best theatre instructors!
THE BELOW CAMPS ARE FOR SUMMER 2008.
The focus is on fun! Through acting, mime, clown, movement, stage combat, improvisation, mask, Shakespeare and dance, students will explore all types of theatre. They will perform excerpts of what they have learned in a public forum on the last day of the programs.

The Dance Intensive will develop students’ knowledge and skills in ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, tap, Scottish, and country dancing, martial arts, yoga and more. Students build on their existing skills while revisiting the basics that all professionals review constantly to remain strong and précise.

Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This workshop is designed to encourage creativity. Students will write their own original play and bring it to life on stage. Using an innovative collaborative process, the class will write, cast, direct, rehearse and finally perform their play before an audience of family and friends.
With no acting experience required, you only need to bring your creative spirit and desire to perform on stage. The purpose of the workshop is to foster communication, collaboration and confidence using acting exercises, movement, voice, writing and improvisation.

Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Musical Theatre Intensive focuses on the performance styles and history of musical theatre from Canada, United States and the world. Students study voice, acting, history, and many types of musical theatre related dance. They will be trained by professional musical theatre artists and other performance professionals to ensure the highest standard of education & enjoyment!
For ages 12 & up
August 4 – 8
Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Fee: $165
The Acting Intensive focuses on all the disciplines of acting: voice study, text, monologue, scene study, Shakespeare, classics, mask, on-camera, movement, improvisation and more. The students will be trained by methods used by theatre practitioners across the globe, creating a realistic and challenging acting experience! Due to overwhelming interest, we have extended this camp from one week to two.
For ages 12 & up
August 11 – 22 (two-week intensive)
Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Fee: $325
Students will create their own original short dramatic films and documentaries from scratch! They will learn how to generate ideas and workshop scripts, as well as the basics of film language, camera placement and shot construction. Using hands-on camera exercises, analysis of film clips, and traditional and modern film technique, they will learn how to produce their own films. They will also learn the basics of an editing program under the supervision of a qualified instructor. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Anne Allan
Anne has served as Artistic Director of The Charlottetown Festival since 2004, and as director and choreographer of several Festival productions, including the 2005/2006 hit CANADA ROCKS! The Hits Musical Revue. Other Festival productions to her credit include Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™, Something Wonderful! and Eight to the Bar.
She is internationally known as a theatre director and choreographer in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. She began her career as a classical ballet dancer with the Scottish Ballet, Ballet International and the London City Ballet, having trained at the Royal Ballet School. She has also worked in the film and TV industries, and she is proud to have been private dancing teacher to Her Royal Highness Diana Princess of Wales.
Thomas Morgan Jones
Thomas has been Director of the Camps and Intensives since 2004. He has been with the camps as an instructor since their inception in 2002. Holding a B.A in Theatre from the University of Guelph, he has worked as a playwright, director, fight choreographer, dramaturg, martial artist and instructor from coast to coast in Canada; Belfast, Ireland; and Suelin City, Taiwan.
As an instructor he has taught at the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph-Humber. As an acting coach he has instructed the Charlottetown Festival Young Company, and at the MZTV Museum, RAPA, University of Toronto’s Hart House, Sears Drama Festival, and many primary and secondary schools across Ontario. He has been a member of the Charlottetown Festival company since 2002, and is currently completing his MA in Drama at the University of Toronto.

• PAYMENT IN FULL MUST ACCOMPANY REGISTRATION TO HOLD YOUR SPACE.
• Students to bring own lunch and snack.
• All classes will be conducted in comfortable, air-conditioned studios.
• TWO-WEEK CANCELLATION POLICY to receive a refund. (There is a $3 handling fee to process a refund.)
Confederation Centre reserves the right to cancel any of these courses due to low registration.
