Artist trading card event celebrates five years with entries from five provinces

August 4, 2011

The Confederation Centre Art Gallery is celebrating five years of Artist Trading Card events with its biggest gathering of creative minds and hands yet. More than 60 artists of all ages are participating in the fifth annual Artist Trading Card event on August 11.

The event starts at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall as part of the Thursday in the Gallery series. Local artists as well as artists from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario will be trading cards and talking about their work. This year's submissions include a wide variety of techniques including linocuts, watercolours, collage, and mixed media creations.

Guests can view the cards and discuss them with the artists. Pianist Max Keenlyside will provide musical entertainment, and there will be a cash bar. Entry is free.

Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature works of art. They can be created with any material imaginable. Some cards are produced in editions (a limited number of the same card), some in series (a set of cards with a unifying theme), and some are singular originals.
