Call for new members for Confederation Centre youth and adult choirsSeptember 7, 2012End of summer blues? Find your singing voice! Call for new members for Confederation Centre youth and adult choirs (Charlottetown) - As seasons change and the nights get longer what better time is there to sing it out? The Confederation Singers, Confederation Centre of the Arts' resident adult choir, and the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus are looking for new voices! Donald Fraser, director of music at Confederation Centre, is welcoming new members through September and October. Every year, the adult choir performs two or three concerts, including a performance of Handel's Messiah in December. Rehearsals for the Confederation Singers run each Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Mack in Charlottetown. Choir experience is not essential but basic music or singing skills are expected. Also, the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus is looking for new members between the ages of 8 and 18. The chorus gives several performances at The Centre each year, including Sing Noel and Voices of Spring, and sings at community events as well. Rehearsals take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Mack. Chorus members have been busy in recent years, recording two albums and touring extensively, with performances in Italy, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Florida, New York City, British Columbia, Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. This year's Youth Chorus will be touring to Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2013. Membership for either choir is $100 per person.
