Colonel Chris Hadfield to Give ‘Out of this World’ Address at Confederation Centre of the Arts

June 4, 2014

Canadian icon to deliver keynote in the Homburg Theatre this October; VIP reception and student meet-and-greet also presented

(Charlottetown, P.E.I.) - "Good morning, Earth!" That is how Canadian icon Colonel Chris Hadfield, writing on Twitter, woke up the world every day while living for five months aboard the International Space Station last year. Now the astronaut and viral celebrity will be touching down on red soil, coming to P.E.I. this fall to spend the day at Confederation Centre of the Arts.

A keynote address, Out of this World with Colonel Chris Hadfield will be delivered in the Homburg Theatre on October 30, 2014. Hadfield, the first Canadian to walk in space, will speak to the pride of representing Canada as commander of the International Space Station, and the practical lessons he has learned throughout his remarkable career in the fields of leadership, collaboration, science and technology.

Through his 21-years as an astronaut and three spaceflights, the Sarnia, Ontario native has become a worldwide sensation, harnessing the power of social media to make outer space accessible to millions, and infusing a sense of wonder into our collective consciousness not felt since man first walked on the Moon. Called "the most famous astronaut since Neil Armstrong," Hadfield continues to bring the marvels of science and space travel to everyone he encounters.

Advance tickets for Out of this World with Colonel Chris Hadfield are available for Confederation Centre members as of today with public tickets going on sale this Saturday June 7 at 10 a.m. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available, which offer access to an exclusive VIP reception with Hadfield at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Two winners will be chosen with the grand prize being a three day space camp at the Cosmodome in Laval, Quebec. Additional information will be announced later this summer regarding the interactive and student components to this exciting day.
