National Youth Orchestra-Edges of Canada TD Tour* July 30, 2017 4 pmFree admission but tickets are required

For more than 50 years, NYO Canada (the National Youth Orchestra of Canada) has enjoyed a reputation as Canada's orchestral finishing school, devoted to the discovery and training of our country's best young classical musicians. This summer, NYO Canada returns to Charlottetown to perform their Canada 150 Signature Project Edges of Canada, the first visit the orchestra has made to PEI in over a decade. Comprised of the finest musicians in the nation between the ages of 16-28, the 92-person orchestra will perform a variety of music from composers such as Ravel, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.

As our nation celebrates the 150th anniversary of Confederation, NYO Canada has been hand-picked - as one of a select group of just 40 carefully chosen organizations - to design, lead, and execute one of the most prestigious and high-profile signature events in the sesquicentennial.  During July and August 2017, NYO Canada will mount a magnificent, high-visibility pan-Canadian tour –Edges of Canada - which will see specially-commissioned works performed in Canadian cities coast to coast to coast.

The 12-city tour will also be the subject of a full-length documentary film, which will be directed by John Bolton of Opus 59 Films and executive produced by Shirley Vercruysse.   Sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty, and the Joan and Regis Duffy Foundation.
