Guidelines for 2016 Symons Lecture Contest

The Symons Lecture Contest invites high school students in grades 11 or 12 from the Province of Prince Edwards Island to  to submit their response in written medium. The Symons Lecture Contest is a part of the annual Symons Medal and Lecture on the State of Canadian Confederation the is an initiative of Confederation Centre of the Arts furthering its unique heritage mandate as Canada's national memorial to the Fathers of Confederation.

The Symons Medal and Lecture Essay Contest invites PEI students in grades 11 and 12 to submit an original and creative essay between 700-1,000 words in either French or English. The topic of student essays should mirror the topic and theme chosen by Mme Maillet for her lecture entitled "CANADA FROM SEA TO SEA...TO SEA. LE CANADA D'UNE MER À L'AUTRE...À L'AUTRE."

The author of the first-place winning essay will receive $1,000; second place will receive $650; third place will receive $350. The deadline for essay submission is February 3, 2017, and the winners will be contacted and announced in March, 2017.
